Management of Change

No system is static forever. Managing change to the operational and regulatory environment must be performed proactively to ensure continuing safe outcomes.

Keeping up with the ever changing aviation industry is a full time job. New aircraft equipment requirements, new flight operational areas, navigational systems, information technology improvements all require a careful proactive system analysis and hazard identification process.

Safety Risk Management is your go to process to ensure your organization is prepared to implement changes on time to keep your organizations leadership and the FAA satisfied that due diligence has been performed and documented.

  • What is the scope of the change?
  • Is the change mandated by FAR or a change of business strategy?
  • Will it involve multiple departments within your organization?
  • Will new technologies and equipment be required to ensure effective implementation?
  • Will this change introduce new hazards to your existing operations?
  • How will you control the hazard?
  • Will the change require training of your personnel?
  • How best to conduct the training?
  • How will successful implementation of the change be measured?

This is just a short list of the questions that must be answered to develop a clear understanding of the changes. Without putting in the effort up front, it is likely that important aspects of the change and potential consequences will be overlooked and could result in negative outcomes.

No matter the change an experienced subject matter expert with safety risk management experience should be consulted to ensure positive outcomes.
